Broadening Our Impact Through Resiliency and Innovation
Many of the individuals that At The Crossroads works with report that accessing services can be difficult. During COVID-19 these challenges were magnified, due to closures, lack of information, and the general stress caused by the pandemic. One of ATC’s biggest accomplishments over the last year was the ability to keep staff healthy, while still maintaining a presence on the streets.
ATC has always prioritized removing barriers to social services. Even during the most challenging of years, the team at ATC never lost sight of that mission and responsibility, offering radically accessible support to those who need it most:
- Handing out food, PPE, and essential supplies during nighttime outreach to everyone regardless of their age.
- Providing direct cash assistance to 90 clients for groceries and necessities.
- Helping over 60% of our clients access rent relief, stimulus payments, and/or EDD.
- Distributing Narcan Nasal Spray (which is easier to use) and were able to give out 3X more Narcan during a year when there was a rise in overdoses.
Creating new entry points for individuals to access ATC’s services was also a big point of emphasis. ATC entered two new partnerships with peer organizations and the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing:
- Rising Up Initiative: A coordinated entry program that deploys problem-solving, rapid rehousing, and education and employment services to reduce youth homelessness.
- San Francisco Flex Pool: Case management and long-term support for people who receive permanent housing vouchers.
These partnerships and programs not only provide more individuals access to ATC’s long-term support services, but it also opens the door for ATC’s leadership to advocate for more compassionate services and the removal of barriers that prevent youth from receiving the support they need.

At The Crossroads reaches out to homeless youth and young adults at their point of need, and works with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives. By bringing our services directly onto the streets, we cultivate long-term, unconditional relationships with young people who would otherwise be disconnected from consistent support.
We empower our clients to accomplish their individual goals, build community, pursue their passions, and find their own paths to happiness and stability. We believe that there are no limits to what our clients can achieve, and that everyone deserves the chance to build an outstanding life.

Help Young People Find Housing — And Thrive in Life!
To celebrate their 25th anniversary, At The Crossroads is raising $25,000! This support will be earmarked for new client centered solutions and to expand to new outreach routes.
ATC clients shared their own ideas and solutions for homelessness during a special focus group this year. With your support, ATC will pilot two of their ideas in 2023, further centering client voices in their work.
As they walked their traditional routes, ATC Outreach Counselors noticed the pandemic displaced many people into different areas of the city. With your support, in 2023 ATC will explore and expand to new outreach routes.
Due to the many obstacles that come along with government funding, ATC focuses primarily on donors like you to support their unique approach. In fact, only 6% of their $1.2M budget comes from the government. This allows them to keep their services individualized and client centered; and also allows them to focus on partnering with community members like you to solve homelessness with compassion.
